"Laying out expectations!"
During this stage, we will provide you with a free estimate which will include an approximate price range and schedule based on the initial information you present.
Please provide as many details as possible, including project concept, vision for your space, dimensions and special features.
Pictures say a thousand words! The more pictures you can provide at this stage, the better.
Our Project Manager will provide a general estimate based on average square foot pricing & past similar projects.
We have worked on and designed so many great projects all over Ottawa and eastern Ontario. These include kitchen renovations, bathroom renovations, basement finishing, Tiny Home builds and many other types of jobs (see Before/After). Our preliminary estimates are very accurate and the cost and schedule will be further refined during the Planning Stages.
ADMINISTRATIVE, DESIGN & PLANING
"Let's figure it out!"
Once you receive your estimate, the next step for us would be to provide you with our Admin & Design agreement, which will require a 5% (industry standard) deposit. This deposit is calculated from the total of your general estimate. This allows you to engage us to prioritize your project and for us to assess your space, the designs, all selections and the scope of the project as well as to provide you with a no-obligation quote for the work. Any questions or concerns that weren’t addressed will be covered at this stage. We’ll take the time to establish what you want with absolute certainty. The 5% deposit will be subtracted from the total overall cost of the project.
From here, the customized plans we create for your project will include selections, timelines and an itemized budget. You will have direct input on the final touches of the plans. This way you have control over your project and will ensure that the project matches the needs of your space and budget.
Should you wish to not move forward with HCH, we will provide you with a comprehensive Design/Selections/Schedule package that can then be used by another contractor.
"Off we go"
Should you wish to move forward, HCH will present a builders contract that will include selections, timelines and an itemized budget. A 25% (industry standard) Booking Deposit will be requested upon agreement of the builders' contract. This deposit is calculated from the total of your builders' estimate.
All the materials we source are tested and vetted by our team. Our professional and personal relationships with our suppliers, allow us to source quality materials at good prices. When we save on materials, you save on renovation costs. We apply the same amount of care when choosing the team who will be handling your project.
A 25% (industry standard) Booking Deposit will be requested within 30 days of the scheduled start date of the build. This deposit is calculated from the total of your builders' estimate.
"Keeping us in check!"
Our Project Managers, Master Carpenters and seasoned Site Coordinators will ensure that this stage is completed, safely, on time and on a budget so that you can enjoy your beautiful new space. We will also schedule progressive inspections with clients and required City/ESA inspectors.
As we progress we will be issuing scheduled invoices. Depending on the cost, scope and duration of the project, the invoice may be sent weekly/bi-weekly or once a milestone is completed. These details will be outlined in the Builders Contract.

A Pre-Delivery inspection will be scheduled with the client just prior to project completion to ensure all deficiencies are identified and remedied. We work with experienced and certified experts and choose only the best for each phase of the build. Rest assured that when the build is done, you’re protected by one of the best warranties in the business. We take your projects very seriously, and with our warranty backed with the manufacturers' warranty, we see to it that it is maintained for years to come.
A warranty inspection will be scheduled with the client 12 months after the project completion to ensure all deficiencies are identified and remedied
